LG French Door Refrigerator Failed Compressor

My compressor went out and the fridge and freezer no longer worked. I called LG customer service and they had a repair man call me back in 6 business days. He was polite quick and on time. He came the very next day and replaced the compressor in a little over an hour and now my fridge is back to cooling and freezing and Im so happy

We have only had this refrigerator for almost 2 years and it already broke down. Lost all of our food and we were without a working fridge for 6 days. Literally living out of a small cooler for 6 days. It was fixed on the 6th day and we were told it could happen again If we dont clean behind the refrigerator at least a couple times a year. Weve never had to clean behind our fridge in our entire lives..

They have been nothing but problems First week I had stove it blew up. 2 years after having refrigerator it stopped working after finally getting someone to work on it it was repaired only for the same part to go again a few weeks ago. Great refrigerator when it works.

All was good with the refrigerator for 4 years. We liked how roomy it for our space and all the assigned bins were just enough for our use. Maintaining the perfect temperature while it works. Right when 5th Year was running the fridge broke down and was not cooling anymore. All the food inside had to be dumped. Online research says the linear compressor lg uses is known to be faulty. I wish I had checked when buying it. It is covered under warranty and it was replaced free of charge too but it took 10days for them to finally replace it. Not gonna buy groceries everyday and cook so ended up eating out during those days. With all those money spent out I seriously considered buying another fridge during that time. In short all is good except the time taken to get it repaired. Covering expenses not enough. Timing is important too. Thanks for keeping up with the rant. Hope this was useful.

I purchased this refrigerator almost 5 years ago. Since then Ive had 2 door gaskets fail. Small dents or depressions magically appeared on all 3 doors and I know it wasnt anyone in the household caused them. Had filed a claim behind it and was told we dont cover cosmetic issues. But the just about 3 weeks ago it stopped cooling and we lost about 600.00 worth of food. Filed a claim. Here it was the compressor failed. Tech replaced with a redesigned one The factory one had a flaw. Found out there was a class action lawsuit filed for just this problem. This the 2nd LG refrigerator Ive owned. The first one was deemed unrepeatable with a year and refunded me the purchase price. Also I asked the Tech that replaced the compressor about those mysterious depressions. He told me that there are voids in the door insulation after they spray it in the the door panel. Just wondering how long am I going to have this one.

Perfect size for my space

We went from a 17 year old two refrigerator to a three door French refrigerator. Love having the split doors as it takes up less space when opening. I like the adjustable glass shelves for my tall items. Glad there is a beep if the doors are not fully shut. Getting used to make sure the door shuts tight.

2018 Model Didnt Last -- You are warned.

Unreliable LG refrigerator compressors led to a class action settlement earlier this year. The class action didnt include people who like us bought this model in May 2018 and discovered a dead compressor in September 2022. No worries though because there is a 10 year warranty on the compressor right? Well lets look at that. LG-approved technicians are the only ones who can examine the unit and make sure the warranty is honored by LG -- but where are they located? Some are surely available in each states largest city right? Wrong. We live within 20 miles of our states largest city but the only LG-approved technicians are not located anywhere near there: one is 2 hours away the other is 1.5 hours away. Hiring one is financially unworkable given the cost of transportation on top of labor. It is unacceptable customer service -- for us the warranty was totally useless. Our advice is to run from anyone selling LG refrigerators unless they can show things have changed.

I received my refrigerator in Jan 2021 It is now Aug 2022 The 1 week of August we were away for a weekend of fishing when we got home our appliance has quit working Luck for me I had another freezer just for meat that had room in it for most of frozen veg and ect. But still needed a refergatot for stuff that is not frozenI called LG Several times and gave them information they wanted but not very fast getting back to you The gave me after a week a list of Lg service people but they were all out of my service area so i had to buy a small mini fridge to keep lunch meat. eggs. and ect because it was too expensive eating out all time. It going on 3 weeks now and there still deciding what to do the only good thing is the compressor is under warranty for 10 years and the service guys say seeing its not cooling top and bottom that is what it is 90 of the time.

Bought this 4 years ago and it stoped working. They fixed it and the tec told me to throw the part in the trash it was very heavy. When they came to pick up my trash they took the part out of the trash and threw it on my lawn.

Havent had the refrigerator long and all is well so far. Love the size as we have a finite space only 30 in which to place the appliance. Fits well works well plenty of space compared to the 12-cubit foot we had. So far would purchase again and recommend.

I purchased my LG refrigerator because from the reviews that I read LG was supposed to be one the best. The compressor features less moving parts however my compressor failed in less than a year. The worse part is it failed right after I went shopping for my annual memorial day cookout. It worked great until it didnt work at all. Well the light still comes on but the fridge or freezer doesnt get cool at all.

Cooling Problems

Purchased this refrigerator in June of 2020. In March of this year it quit cooling. LG replaced the compressor at no charge to us. It worked until the end of April then it quit a second time. After back and forth communication with LG they decided to pro-rate a refund to us and we were to dispose of the non-working refrigerator ourselves. We have been without a working refrigerator for about a month.

Black stainless finish peeling off. Broken.

The finish is peeling off near the handles. LG will not replace but sent us some touch up paint instead. Inverter quit working and still under warranty but LG requiring us to pay all labor and shipping out of pocket: 1/3 the cost of a brand new unit. Seriously regret purchasing 4-piece set. Were so dissatisfied we wont even buy LG computer electronics again.

Great for its size

Bought one a month ago. Its only 30 inches wide but the configuration allows you to put a lot of food in it. For a family of 3 its more than adequate. So far I have not been short on space. I wish the freezer was a little bigger but its ok. My veggies and fruits stay fresher longer. Its fairly quiet and gives off what sounds like a brief whimper when it cycles off but no big deal. I would recommend especially if you have a smaller kitchen like mine.

Like anything else that you buy new there is always an adjustment period. I purchased a French Door fridge with a lower drawer freezer which is a radical departure from the two door upper freezer on the fridge I had. The lower freezer seems to be easier to organize and the fact that it has a rolling upper shelf makes for easier access to the entire compartment. The shelves in the French Doors are fully adjustable as are the fridge shelves. The French Doors give you easy access to the upper compartment. There is a digital readout for the fridge temperature and a door alarm in the event you dont close a door tightly. I wish I had a larger space for a larger model but I think this fridge will do nicely. I cant think of anything negative about this refrigerator to put in this review. If you are at all worried about fingerprints on the doors they easily wipe off.

I bought this about 2 years ago. Its a great refrigerator. All of a sudden it didnt get cold anymore. I didnt buy the extended warranty I didnt have the extra cash at the time. I thought I would have to pay out of pocket. When I called LG they informed me it was still under the company warranty. We scheduled a day in two days for a technician to come to my home and repair it. Very nice guy that obviously new what he was doing. Checked it out and within an hour he was done. Now it is back to great working order.
